Local Operating Rules
As of Sept 2024: food trucks PROHIBITED at existing commercial businesses within city limits (special events excepted). Galveston County Health District permit + Fire Marshal permit both required. HOA exception: up to 3 vendors in HOA parking lot by written request, 8AM-8PM, no seating.
Beginning July 1, 2026, Texas mobile food vendors are licensed by the State of Texas / DSHS under Health & Safety Code Chapter 437B. Local jurisdictions may still enforce local laws that do not conflict with Chapter 437B, such as fire, zoning, parking, location, nuisance, or special-area rules where applicable.
