Mobile food unit permit required from Code Compliance. Food Handler/Management certification required. Fire inspection under 2018 IFC and NFPA standards — no charge for fire inspections. Contact Fire Prevention at (956) 402-4400.
Beginning July 1, 2026, Texas mobile food vendors are licensed by the State of Texas / DSHS under Health & Safety Code Chapter 437B. Local jurisdictions may still enforce local laws that do not conflict with Chapter 437B, such as fire, zoning, parking, location, nuisance, or special-area rules where applicable.
